Saving energy and money with efficient stoves

In Nigeria, about 75% of families still cook with wood over an open fire, and in the north of the country as many as 99% do. At the same time, a family of 7 people consumes about 5 tons of wood per year.

This enormous consumption of firewood has already led to almost complete deforestation and the progressive spread of deserts, especially in the poor north of the country.

For our Interfaith Village in Gurku, we partnered with atmosfair as well as its Nigerian subsidiary to ensure an enhanced local anchoring of the production.

Total savings:
31,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Technology transfer:
Efficient stoves can save 80% of the firewood needed.

Local environment:
less smoke production, avoidance of deforestation.
