Our organic yarns are made in Burkina Faso from 100% organic cotton all grown, spun and woven by hand. In partnership with our producers, we only use dyes that are gained from natural resources.

Faso Danfani (meaning woven dyed yarn) is known as the artisanal hand loom woven cotton cloth. Its signature style are stripes.

HANDMADE FROM REGIONAL RAW MATERIAL

Together with our local partner TradeAid, we initiated the establishment of a women’s cooperative in northern Ghana. The name PROMISE embodies our social entrepreneurial approach and stands for “Product Innovation and Marketing for Self-Employment”.

In special workshops, we trained the women in design and product development. Through the establishment of local production structures, they can build sustainable business structures that help them earn a regular income and sustain communities.

Together we celebrate the traditional basket weaving technique of the region (Bolgatanga) and re-interpret it in fresh ways. We only use organic elephant straw as a regional raw material. Each piece is handmade and Fairtrade certified.

GLASS UPCYCLING BY HAND IN GHANA

The production of glassware begins with the crushing of glass waste, that can be found in many landfills in Ghana. The upcycling process is about to create glass granules that we use to make our beautiful jewelry and vases. The granules are filled into handworked, pre-made molds, heated and then polished. The vases are made using a traditional, local glassblowing technique.

Our production takes place in Odumasse-Krobo/Ghana. Together with traditional bead makers we work to develop new designs and modern shapes from the available raw material. All our jewellry and vases are produced under fair conditions.

Our strategic focus is on the process of recycling and upcycling existing resources. Each piece is unique.

HANDMADE SHOES FROM NIGERIA 

Our leather shoes are made from various upcycled leathers. Everything is handmade from Nigeria, which makes each piece unique.

Kkerele is a Lagos-based design studio that aims to combine tradition and modernity. Inspired by the long history of leather production in Africa, their shoes are simple, yet modern and extravagant. The versatility of the colors and shapes used makes them special and a real eye-catcher.

Our goal is to preserve traditional craftsmanship and give it more respect, but at the same time develop modern concepts and competitive products. We use Upcycling as a form of reuse. Useless products are transformed into new materials with the help of upcycling. In contrast to recycling or downcycling, upcycling leads to an appreciation of the pre-used materials.

HANDMADE T-SHIRTS FROM GHANA

With our “Batik” and “Tie Dye” products we support a small, former fishing village in Ghana. Our “Volta-Project” secures an alternative chance of survival for the inhabitants, as climate change has made it impossible for them to live from fishing at Lake Volta.

In a newly built batik workshop, the fishermen became textile designers. In workshops, they learned new techniques that promote both creativity and personal responsibility.

All revenues of the T-Shirt collection are invested in the further education of the young producers. The T-shirts are made of 100% organic cotton with GOTS certification. All designs come from the producers themselves.

PROCESSED IN GHANA & GERMANY

The processing and finishing of our textile products is carried out in Ghana as well as in Germany.

When cutting, we try to waste as little waste and fabric scraps as possible and pay attention to a conscious use of resources. Quality and craftmanship are important to us, so we produce exclusively in small quantities and always pay attention to details.
